How to use it
- Drop an .md, .markdown or .txt file onto the drop zone.
- Markdown files are shown as clean documents with headings, bold text, lists, tables, quotes and code blocks.
- Text files are shown in a readable font with their line breaks and spacing preserved.
- Use the toolbar to print or save as PDF, which also makes this a simple Markdown to PDF converter.
What is Markdown?
Markdown is a lightweight writing syntax that marks headings with "#", lists with "-" and emphasis with "bold". It is plain text, so any editor can open it, and it turns into a clean web document when rendered. It is used everywhere: GitHub README files, note apps such as Notion and Obsidian, developer documentation and the answers of AI chatbots such as ChatGPT and Claude.
| Syntax | Result |
|---|---|
| # Heading | Large heading |
| bold | Bold text |
| - item | Bulleted list |
| > quote | Quote box |
Safe rendering
Markdown can contain HTML, so a malicious file could hide a script. This viewer converts Markdown to HTML with the open-source marked library, then removes scripts, event attributes and other risky parts with DOMPurify before showing it. You can open MD files from unknown sources without worry.
Automatic fix for garbled text files
Text files saved long ago in Windows Notepad are often encoded as EUC-KR (ANSI), while newer files and files made on macOS or Linux are usually UTF-8. This viewer reads the file as UTF-8 first and, if that fails, as EUC-KR, so Korean text displays correctly wherever the file came from.
Good for
- Reading the README.md of a project downloaded from GitHub
- Printing AI chatbot answers saved as .md in a clean layout
- Text novels or memo files that look garbled on your phone
- Saving a Markdown document as a PDF quickly
Your files stay on your device
Memo files often contain password hints, personal schedules or meeting notes. This viewer never uploads the file; it reads it in browser memory only. Once the page is open it keeps working offline, and closing the tab clears what was loaded. There is no need to upload documents to an unknown converter just to turn Markdown into PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Are Markdown tables and code blocks supported?
Yes. GitHub-flavored Markdown tables, code blocks, quotes, lists and links are all supported.
Can I save Markdown as PDF?
Open the file, click Print / Save as PDF and choose Save as PDF as the printer.
The Korean text in my TXT file looks garbled.
The viewer detects UTF-8 and EUC-KR automatically. If it still looks wrong, the file may use another encoding such as UTF-16; save it as UTF-8 in Notepad and try again.
Can scripts inside an MD file run?
No. Scripts and risky attributes are removed with DOMPurify before the document is shown.
